This year we will be celebrating Seniors Week, 15-23 August, and for the first time in 60 years it will be held as a virtual celebration. This will enable people to celebrate in a safe way and access events and activities they may not have previously been able to.
To assist people to access virtual events there are a range of digital literacy programs available. Be Connected has a range of great resources that can be printed in addition Telstra’s Tech Savvy Seniors resources available in English and other languages.
Virtual activities may include:
- Cooking demonstrations
- Virtual cuppa and chat
- Dance classes
- Art classes
- Online forums
- Museum and gallery tours
- Trivia and other games
If you require a hand planning and delivering your event, consider engaging volunteers in the Care Army. To find out more about how Care Army volunteers please contact Volunteering Queensland directly on (07) 3002 7600.
Whilst we may not be able to celebrate in our usual way together, we can still connect through various digital engagements and small face to face gatherings.
So, let’s come together Queensland!
